Not Your Typical History Lecture

Let’s cut to the chase: Irish witchcraft is not all pointy hats and imported ‘Celtic’ nonsense. This is about real resistance, the power of the Witch in Irish mythology and folklore, and the ongoing fight for sovereignty and equality in Ireland (and beyond).

If you want a fluffy, sanitised version – this isn’t it. But if you’re ready to dig into the uncomfortable truths, the lived stories, and the practical magic that’s shaped this island (and might just change your life too), you’re in the right place.

Why This Matters (Now More Than Ever)

Oppression isn’t over.

The systems that tried to silence witches, women, and anyone who didn’t fit the mould are still kicking. But so are we.

Irish witchcraft has always been about survival, truth telling, and community care.

The Mórrígan didn’t fight with a sword – she fought with words, with will, with the power of voice. Biddy Early stood up to the church and to elitist landlords.

Today, we still need that energy, that courage, and that magic.

Who Am I to Teach This?

I’m Lora O’Brien – Irish Pagan Witch, feminist activist, heritage manager, author of 8 books, founder of the Irish Pagan School, and a mother and grandmother. I’ve spent decades digging into Irish history, mythology, and lived tradition. I’m not here to sell you a fantasy – I’m here to give you the tools, context, and confidence to connect with the real magic of Ireland, wherever you are.
