The Aos Sidhe: Real Irish Fairy Folk, From Manuscript to Modern Belief

Stop Believing Fantasy. Start Understanding the People of the Fairy Hills as Irish Tradition Actually Knows Them.

  Enroll in Course

You've read the books. Watched the shows. Downloaded the tarot spreads about gentle, sparkly fairies who grant wishes and give guidance.

None of that is what Irish people actually believed.

In this 90-minute live class, you'll step into what the manuscripts tell us, what the folklore preserves, and what practitioners in Ireland still respect about the Aos Sidhe. Not Victorian romanticism. Not New Age projection. The real thing, rooted in Irish sources and living practice.

This is for anyone tired of muddled, commercialised versions of Irish spirituality. For those ready to ground their practice in something honest.

WHAT'S THE REAL PROBLEM HERE?

You've been searching for authentic connection to Irish tradition. You've probably tried multiple paths. Bought books that sounded brilliant and left you more confused. Found conflicting information everywhere online.

And if you've been drawn to the Aos Sidhe, the situation is worse. Popular books, online forums, TikTok spirituality all repackage the Fair Folk through a filter of Victorian fantasy, New Age wishful thinking, and appropriated Celtic aesthetics that have nothing to do with how Irish people actually understood them.

You end up with this muddled question: what am I actually relating to here? Whose tradition am I stepping into? Am I appropriating something that isn't mine?

That confusion paralyses practice.

WHO IS MORGAN DAIMLER?

Morgan Daimler isn't new to this work. They're one of the world's foremost experts on fairy folklore, with 30+ published books on Irish mythology, spirituality, and the Aos Sidhe. Morgan holds a respected position in scholarly folklore communities, presents at university conferences, and is a recognised independent folklorist actively engaged with academic rigour.

More importantly, Morgan is a priest of Na Daoine Maithe (the Good Folk) who actually practises this living tradition. They've spent decades translating Old and Middle Irish texts to make them accessible to modern readers, directly studying the sources that matter most. They know the difference between scholarship and appropriation. They know which sources are solid and which are romanticised nonsense.

Morgan teaches regularly at the Irish Pagan School and brings the same scholarly depth and cultural respect to every class.

WHAT DO YOU GET IN THIS CLASS?

In this 1.5 hour live presentation, Morgan walks you through:

  • What the Aos Sidhe actually are according to Irish manuscripts, folklore, and living belief.
  • The oldest sources, the myths they connect to, and how the Tuatha Dé Danann fit into (and differ from) these beings.
  • The impact of Christianity on fairy belief, and how that shaped what we know today.
  • Why 19th and 20th century folk beliefs matter, and what they reveal about persistent Irish understanding.
  • The social structures and relationships the Aos Sidhe maintain in Irish tradition.
  • Common misconceptions and why they exist. Pop culture sidhe. Appropriated Celtic nonsense. Where these ideas come from and why they distort the real thing.
  • How to tell a good source from a bad one. This is essential if you're going to ground your practice anywhere.

The class is recorded for your convenience, and there will be a Q&A session after the live presentation.

By the end you'll have clarity. Not another information dump. Not more questions. You'll understand who and what the Aos Sidhe are without the filter of external cultures muddying the issue. You'll know how to distinguish authentic Irish sources from rebranded New Age fantasy. You'll be equipped to approach these beings with the respect and wariness that living Irish tradition demands.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

Complete beginners welcome.

You don't need Irish ancestry. You don't need previous study. You don't need to speak Gaeilge(Irish). All you need is:

  • A willingness to learn from authentic Irish sources, not invented Celtic aesthetics.
  • Genuine curiosity about the real tradition, not the fantasy version.
  • Respect for Irish culture and a commitment to practising for your own spiritual depth, not to extract, repackage, or teach this to others.

This class is especially for you if you're:

  • Diaspora seeking to ground your practice in something rooted and real, not appropriated.
  • Tired of spiritual material that's been filtered through New Age commercialism.
  • Ready to stop collecting information and start understanding living tradition.
  • Dealing with ethical anxiety about whether it's okay for you to engage with Irish spirituality at all. (Hint: yes, if you do it with respect and right relationship.)

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT?

You could read Yeats. You could scroll through blogs. You could download more resources about Celtic spirituality.

Here's what happens with that approach: you end up with fragments and confusion. Contradictions. No clear sense of what's authentic Irish belief versus what's been layers of distortion.

Morgan cuts through all of that by centering manuscript sources, academic rigour, and living practice. Not storytelling about the tradition. Not spiritual bypassing. Direct engagement with what Irish people actually wrote, believed, and continue to practise.

Morgan also knows what you're up against. The misinformation is real. The appropriation is real. The commercialisation is real. That's exactly why this class exists. To give you grounding so you can spot the difference between authentic Irish tradition and the stuff that's been rebranded and sold as exotic spiritual product.

YOU'LL WALK AWAY WITH:

  • A clear, historically grounded understanding of who the Aos Sidhe are.
  • Knowledge of the oldest sources and what they actually tell us.
  • Clarity about how to distinguish authentic Irish practice from New Age fantasy.
  • Confidence that you're engaging respectfully with Irish tradition, not appropriating it.
  • Permission to step into relationship with the Aos Sidhe on their own terms, rooted in scholarship and respect.
  • A PDF resource sheet with curated links and recommended sources so you can keep learning from credible material.
  • Access to the recorded Q&A session (if you attend live) or the recording if you can't make the live time.

BEFORE YOU ENROLL, UNDERSTAND THIS:

This class is taught with authority and cultural clarity. It's not gentle reassurance or a beginner's toolkit wrapped in New Age language. It's direct, grounded, and blunt about boundaries.

Morgan will tell you what's real and what's not. Morgan will cite sources. Morgan will be clear that this is for personal spiritual depth, not for you to become a Celtic priestess or spiritual entrepreneur.

If you're looking for fluffy affirmation or free-for-all eclecticism, this isn't it.

If you're ready to root yourself in living Irish tradition and learn with respect and humility, you've found your people.

Thank you for such an informative class! As an American from the Irish diaspora as it were, do you think the lore supports (us) having relationship or contact, if any, with the good people, or are they all in Ireland, at home in their respective landscapes? I know there's a lot of stuff out there like American Gods projecting the idea that native traditions and beings travel through human migration but I would think that these stories belong in their proper place geographically and wouldn't want to assume that I know the scope of their presence as somebody who was not raised in Ireland. This is partly about protection as well since I want to be respectful of boundaries I may not know are there in practice! Thank you!/Go raibh maith agat!

Do I need to have Irish ancestry to study here?
No, absolutely not. We provide authentic connection to Ireland, with native or naturalised Irish teachers, for anyone who wishes to learn from us and is willing to put in the time and effort to do this properly... rather than grab a culturally appropriated quick fix. Diaspora practitioners work with Irish tradition every day from everywhere in the world. Geography doesn't stop you from building relationship with Irish deities, ancestors, and the spirits. Respect and consistent practice do the work. You'll learn frameworks for how to do this with integrity in class.
The biggest value in this class I thought was the immersion in the lore of the Irish deities which adds to one's knowledge, and in relating the names of the deities to more Irish vocabulary and giving that context and memory cues which always helps with remembering words in a foreign language. The Q&A was particularly valuable for additional info as well as answering questions that also came up in my mind.
As I listened to the Q&A I found myself being amazed and thought it's to the credit of this community and most pagans in general (with a few unfortunate exceptions) how we can discuss and come to an amicable agreement on the meanings (or lack of any) of these texts and many other things whose meanings are so vague and open to debate and STILL not have serious rancor over that. This is so unlike certain mainstream religions throughout history (whose names I don't think I need mention) that caused schisms and outright bloodshed that lasts to this day.
