Who's St Patrick?
Not the snakes and shamrocks version... What's his REAL history? How is St Patrick's Day celebrated in Ireland, and in America, and why - where did it all come from?
Join authors and educators Lora O'Brien & Morgan Daimler for a Discussion Style Session all about St Patrick, with unique perspectives and insight from both the native Irish culture, and the Irish American Diaspora culture.
This recorded event (2 hours & 15 min), shows the questions and conversation with two of the world's top authorities on Irish Paganism, Irish history & heritage, and Irish cultural traditions past and present.
- Modern Christianity will tell you that St Patrick was a runaway slave, a mystic, a miracle worker who drove the snakes out of Ireland and saved us all from the dirty Pagans.
- Modern Paganism will tell you that St Patrick was evil, established patriarchy, and that the 'snakes' represent the innocent Pagan Druids he had murdered and driven away.
The truth, as ever, is somewhere between and behind and buried underneath all of that, and our two presenters dug it up and shone a light on it all for you.
And sure there was a bit of craic and lots of learning while they were at it, as ever!

"I am repeatedly impressed with the quality and integrity of the resources available at the Irish Pagan School. In stark contrast to much of the available online information being sold as pagan, Irish, or Celtic, these courses, conferences, and free resources pay true homage to the ancestors and Gods by doing their scholarly due diligence AND deeply, heartfully, devotionally considering the topics they discuss. You will not find glib, falsely positive, shadow-fearing content here, but rather content that holds space for the fullness of human experience (yay!). Highly recommend."

"I got started here after winning a benefit auction for a free course. And then the dominoes fell — I’m at least 10 courses in, with more to go. The wisdom and experience in these courses is unparalleled. Most importantly, it is a truly authentic connection to Ireland. With an emphasis on learning the history and lore, honoring the cultural and developing a right relationship with the culture and Deity.
